Overall Look
These dogs convey poise, harmony, and power in a sleek frame suited for chasing prey. Measuring 18.5–23.5 inches at the shoulder, they appear nearly square or gently elongated, avoiding extremes in length or height. Their structure blends slender bones with toned muscles for a lithe yet sturdy presence.
Head and Neck
The head is refined and sculpted, with a sleek, taut skin showing subtle veins. Large, dark almond eyes give an intelligent, welcoming gaze, paired with small, fine ears that fold neatly against the neck. A long, gently curved neck flows into the shoulders without excess skin.
Body and Topline
The topline gently rises from behind the withers to peak over the final rib, then descends smoothly over a strong loin and extended croup. The chest descends close to the elbows with a subtle rib curve, leading to a distinctive upward sweep at the underline. The tail hangs low and supple, curving naturally without kinks.
Limbs
Forequarters feature angled shoulders, straight legs, and compact feet (hare-shaped preferred). Hindquarters provide robust drive with bent stifles, broad hocks, and matching feet. All support fluid motion without cow-hocking or weakness.
Coat and Colors
Silky and moderate in length—straight, wavy, or curly—it feathers elegantly on the neck, legs, chest, and tail without bulk or obstruction. Short on face and feet, it's presented naturally. Every color and pattern is welcome.
Gait and Disposition
They trot with easy extension and propulsion, converging toward a central line at speed. Friendly, smart, and prey-focused yet loving at home, Silkens avoid shyness or aggression.
